I Did a Thing
You know that cliche about how it’s never too late to pursue your dreams? Turns out it’s actually true.
To all who have checked in on me and my health I thank you from the bottom of my heart. It’s been humbling.
To those just joining the conversation, I nearly died in January. It wasn’t fun. I don’t recommend it. Doctors have added new meds and overall I’m doing much better. I still have bad days. I still pass out. I still “ink”. (Reference my last story on how my body publicly outs my blood sugar woes by making me fart.)
Nearly punching my ticket gradually led me to rethink a lot of my life decisions, like “Is licking the orange powder off the Doritos really a smart choice?” Seriously, it’s delicious but it makes my tongue burn to where I can’t taste other foods. And, admittedly, it’s disgusting for everyone else to watch.
Other things I pondered were career choices I made along the way. I’ve always loved politics and being a consultant was one of the great honors of my life. I made so many lifelong friends in the process. I also saw the underbelly of our political process and maybe one day I’ll write about that. (Hint: It’s not as a bad as you think but it’s not great either.)
